2024 SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

The Scholarship Committee of the Irish American Home Society is pleased to announce the distribution of as many as four (4) annual two thousand dollar ($2,000) scholarships.

ELIGIBILITY AND RESTRICTIONS:

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be members of the IAHS, or, they must be the child/legal dependent of an IAHS member that is currently in “good standing” (dues paid to date) of the Irish American Home Society. The membership of a parent/legal guardian must have been active for the past three consecutive years to meet eligibility requirements.

Additional criteria:

  • The scholarship is open for application to both high school seniors and to students currently enrolled in a post-high school educational program that fit the following criteria:

  • High School applicants must be graduating seniors planning to matriculate as full time students pursuing a post-high school education, including an accredited 2 or 4 year college/university, or vocational trade school. (Does not include post-graduate programs)

  • Current students enrolled in post-high school education must be currently enrolled and planning to remain enrolled in the program for one additional year.

Note: Previous winners of the award (both high school students and currently enrolled secondary students) are NOT eligible to re-apply for a second scholarship.

    The Central Connecticut Celtic Cultural Committee
    Celtic Scholars Program

    The Central Connecticut Celtic Cultural Committee (C.C.C.C.C) has been formed for the purpose of fostering, promoting and celebrating the cultural and historical contributions of Irish and Irish-American individuals and groups in Central Connecticut. In addition to sponsoring the Greater Hartford’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the C.C.C.C.C also sponsors the Celtic Scholars Program. This Scholarship Program recognizes the personal and educational achievements of Irish and Irish-American young men and women, as well as their contributions to their community and their interest in promoting the culture of their heritage.

    Award recipients (Celtic Scholars) will each receive a $1,500.00 scholarship and an Aran Sweater.

    Award recipients will be chosen and notified by January 31, 2024.

    The requirements for Scholarship Award consideration are as follows:

    • Connecticut resident
    • 17-22 years of age (high school senior or college undergraduate)
    • Of Irish descent
    • Availability to attend the Parade Mass on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.
    • Availability to participate in the Greater Hartford St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 11:00a.m.

    The completed application, two essays that address the questions (see application), and two completed recommendation forms must be postmarked or e-mailed by January 4, 2024 and submitted to:
